During the last couple of weeks, I’ve been drowned with work. During this time I’ve been going through some interesting stuff (while working like mad). Someone asked me, what is better: Paid marketing (PPC) or Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
The answer is simple. It depends.
It all depends on what you want to accomplish, but if you are looking for immediate results and doing a test to verify whether you should optimize for a term or even give a spin to internet marketing, paid marketing is the best option. It is directly quantifiable, immediately measurable and can be very successful if performed by a skilled and experienced marketer. If performed by a non-professional, you may loose your shirt or even damage the reputation of your brand and company.
If you understand the advantages of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), then you may want to skip the paid marketing and get your site optimized to benefit for the highest amount of traffic. However, both have their uses and benefits and should be considered when the goal is to dominate a market.
But of course, in the ever changing world of the search engines, I learned today that search is going to change dramatically and search engine optimization may have to make a big adaptation. I’m talking about personalized search. Have you heard about it?
